OUR PROGRAM ASSISTANTS

PHFSC Program Assistants assist our coaches for group lessons on our Pre-CanSkate & Parent  and CanSkate sessions. Program assistants (PAs) play a vital role in the success of our CanSkate programs. PAs assist both on and off the ice, demonstrating skills and teaching progressions, supervising practice sessions, and leading warm-ups and cool-downs. They reinforce learned skills, conduct circuits, drills, and group activities, and distribute awards like stickers and badges. PAs also take attendance and serve as positive role models for young skaters, contributing to a supportive and enriching skating environment.

Program assistants are not required to wear figure skates. To become a program assistant skaters must be registered for a STARSkate program, or be a hockey or ringette skater with at least 5 years of on ice experience. We are happy to welcome high school students who are looking to complete their volunteer hours is a fun and dynamic environment.
